Client Messaging: How Learning a Foreign Language Makes You a Client Magnet

How well do you speak the language of the person you want to serve? You know your method thoroughly. What matters just as much is whether the person who needs it recognizes themselves in the way you describe it.

On Monday, Simone Hoa Aubrey joins me on The Spiritual Business Hour. Simone is a Business Excellence Coach whose specialty is Authority Positioning, and together we explore why learning another language can make you a more precise communicator, and how learning the language of your ideal client establishes your authority.

The Distance Between What You Know and What They Hear

Many coaches can explain their work beautifully to another coach. The difficulty begins when they explain it to the person who needs it, because that person is not using your vocabulary. They describe their situation in their own words, and those words often carry a specific worry that does not match the name of the framework you are eager to teach.

We often picture authority as a matter of credentials and certainty. I believe it begins earlier, in the moment a person hears you describe their situation and feels accurately seen.

The expert people trust is the one who understands them first.

What Another Language Teaches a Coach

Speaking another language teaches you what it is like to struggle to express something you understand perfectly in your head. The thought is complete and the feeling is exact, and yet the words arrive too slowly, in the wrong order, or not at all. Once you have stood in that moment, you listen differently. You become more patient, more attentive, and more curious about what a person is really trying to say.

That experience is the heart of the matter, because every person who comes to you is speaking a language you have to learn. Meeting them where they actually are means taking their words seriously, and fluency in their language is a form of respect.

Learning the Language of Your Ideal Client

Their language is made of the words they use to describe their problem, their hopes and their fears, and it is seldom the vocabulary of your method.

When you reflect their words back to them, you show them that you have already walked into their world. The coach who has walked into their world is the one they credit with knowing the way out.

Authority Is Built in the Listening

You want to be taken seriously, to be sought after, and to have your years of experience count. You may not call it authority, and yet that is what you are describing, and it grows each time someone feels heard by you before they are asked to trust you.

This is why I am so glad Simone is joining me. Authority Positioning is her specialty, and her work helps ambitious women recognize their value and build profitable businesses. I am eager to explore with her what it looks like to meet people where they actually are, and how a coach can become more precise without becoming more complicated.

    Questions You May Be Asking

Do I need to learn an actual language? Not at all, although it is a wonderful teacher. The same principle works in your own language: let their words, and not yours, set the vocabulary of the conversation.

Will speaking my client's language make me sound less expert? It does the opposite. Precision in their words shows that you have listened, and listening is what makes your expertise believable. You still bring your depth, and you introduce it in terms they already understand.

Where do I find their words? Look in your discovery calls, your direct messages, your comment sections, and the questions that arrive after a livestream. Write down their exact phrases and let them shape your titles, your emails and your offers.

Join Simone and me live on Monday at 2:00 PM PT on the Badass Butterfly YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/CwWOXxoBtvo?si=xjnYJ2iBaS82ksfw
